For quite a while it appeared as though I was running a 32 bit system on out-dated drivers and when I tried to up-date them on the MS site, Microsoft seemed to recognize my computer as running off winXP or Vista and offered up-dates for hose OS’s – The times I attempted a restore, it would take nearly a full day to a day and a half to load up all the plus up-dates and if I didn’t pay close attention, several of the up-dates would be unsuccessful and take several attempts – Still the process was far to slow for a new computer and was a royal pain in the keester -.

Also Harkanwar, HP Support Assistant does not appear to be functioning very well, if at all and gives conflicting reports. Yes this has become quite disconcerting and frustrating and I am now suspicious of everything. When I visit the HP site to up-date the drivers – the site often recognizes my computer by using an incorrect Product. Many times it would not allow me to contact on-line chat support and would indicate that there were no issues needing to be addressed, when it was painfully obvious that my system indeed was experiencing severe issues.

When it was supposed to be performing a system scan it would require me to up-date and install HP support solutions each time – Is it really necessary to re-install this software each and every time I trouble-shoot from the official HP site?

I just don’t know. It says my drivers are up to date but I am afraid that it is recognizing an incorrect OS – I am very confused. Also, any time I would run a system security scan – I would see file after file of 32 bit files being scanned – scores and scores of them, when my computer information page assures me that I am operating a windows 8.

MY computer came with Mcafee installed but many times, without the warning I was supposed to receive, I became infected with large groups or sets of malicious programs, hi-jacking my browsers, mucking up the whole system and forcing me to spend hours trying to un-install them. They can be quite stubborn, dig their claws in and fight their un-install every step of the way.

They do not go easily. I would like to make one final attempt at a factory restore before I send the unit back to HP for a thorough going over- I was allowed to make one copy of the OS which I dumped onto a flash-drive 32G – However I now have great concern that the OS may not have copied correctly or that it might be corrupted.

I am hesitant to wipe out the hard-drive and then not be able to re-install the OS 8. I am also not certain if I might have copied win-8 rather than 8. Is there a way to check my back-up on the flash drive and test it to make certain that it contains a clean copy of 8.

And what method would suggest that I use to perform a complete factory restore without losing all of the pre-installed Apps -I am not concerned with losing files, as I have nothing important stored. I am so distrustful these days of nearly all web-sites including Micro-soft and H Packard -. I apologize for the volume of info Harkanwar, but I wanted you to have a fair picture of what I am up against – Any additional assistance or recomendations you could provide would be greatly appreciated – Or would you advise I just send the unit back to HP for them to work on it – The problem may actually be in the hard-ware itself -ho knows!
