I did manage to resolve this issue by using “Override for default input method” in the advanced settings, but after restarting my computer it had reset to the UK layout while still being set as “Keyboard layout: Japanese” under language preferences. I would suggest you to remove English UK language and then re-add it. Then, set Japanese IME for this language. Follow the methods:. Actually, scratch that. Actually the keyboard has been set to Japanese input – please see picture below. However, the key inputs still do not match those marked on the keyboard.
