If you were browsing the internet and knew of LEGO’s website back in the day, you might be familiar with a few ancient games back when Shockwave was still a thing.

I’ve gotten a few of these old gems to run, but when it comes to running a few games I’ve been extra nostalgic for, that’s when I’ve ran into issues. Spybotics: The Nightfall Incident seems to get stuck on the game’s loading screen the one where text is written across the blue matrix-y background.

Beltz and Dreamz get stuck on the Shockwave Player Loader. Anyone have any experience with this and have any idea how to fix these issues? Dangit I love this game and would really like to get it working again too.

I remember having the loading screen get stuck as a result of the game not connecting to the local server correctly. If you aren’t sure I can make a small guide on getting it running for Spybotics. Unfortunately while I’ve got XAMPP all set up and the server’s running fine, unlike you I can’t get a browser to actually play the game I’m left with a black screen on the launcher. I’ve tried installing Shockwave and using both Firefox and Chrome from portableapps, plus installed versions of Firefox, including one that was supposed to be set up specifically for NPAPI, but none of them launch the game.

What process did you use to get Shockwave working? If it’s possible to run it through a portable browser that would be awesomesauce! I’ve been able to get a hold of the np32dsw. I recommend using the Beltz- and Dreamz-configured Mozilla Firebird that biomediaproject provided, as it is Shockwave compatible and so far the only browser I can actually get Shockwave to run in.

Internet Explorer would theoretically work too, but because of the EOL of Shockwave, it can’t download the compatibility files it needs to run. Do not use this browser for anything apart from specifically-designed web pages, preferably ones hosted locally.

This browser is ancient, unsupported, and full of security holes. Anyway, here’s the link to it: biomediaproject.

I’ve gotten Junkbot and Junkbot Undercover to run and save locally using this browser, and both require XAMPP for local saving which is installed , so I’m not quite sure what could be going wrong.

If I had to guess, though, XAMPP isn’t actually configured for any of these games at the moment, so I may in fact need a guide on how to set it up for Spybotics.

EDIT: To try and help debug this, I’ve included images of the two possible results I’ve gotten when trying to run this game. Occurs when trying to run the game locally. Text is written across the screen, deleted, and a new line of flavor text is written, and this process is endlessly repeated. Occurs when trying to stream the game from biomediaproject’s website. Game loads, but runs out of memory before the title screen pops up. Music plays either until the track is finished and doesn’t loop, or until the dialogue box is closed.

Having projected versions of all these old games would most definitely be ideal. Worldbuilder and Worldbuilder 2 thankfully already have projected versions, and although Junkbot and Junkbot Undercover technically do too, their projected versions don’t support saving. I do hope that won’t be an issue if The Nightfall Incident ever gets released in standalone form. That’s fantastic news jamesster! Really looking forward to seeing where that goes.

And thank you so much for the link GBTM , I can now get it working Next I’ll package the whole thing up in Cameyo or something similar so it’s completely portable. Anyway, here’s a guide for you and anyone else that stumbles upon this thread, using the links you kindly provided:. Create a new folder to work in, let’s call it SpyboticsTheNightfallIncident.

Make sure the folder’s name and the directory path to it don’t have any spaces as they could break the software. Extract the zip file inside your game directory and you’ll get a folder called TheNightfallIncident.

Download the portable installer; in this case I’ll use xampp-portable-windows-x Now you’ll be asked for an installation folder. Choose a folder called xampp inside your game folder, e. When it’s finished, uncheck the checkbox to start the program and click Finish. Create a shortcut to the xampp-control. Call it Launch Server. In TheNightfallIncident , select the folder spybotics and move it inside your xampp folder into the directory called htdocs , e.

Now create a shortcut to MozillaFirebird. Run the Launch Server shortcut. Click the Start button under Actions , to the right of ” Apache “. Now you can run the Launch Browser shortcut and open the Launcher. Note: If you have a whitelist-only firewall, or a particularly invasive anti-virus, you may need to whitelist the game folder here.

I read through all that, and I didn’t do anything too differently. I tried doing it all over again a second time, following these instructions to the letter, and I get the same result as before State 1: Indefinite Loading. I have no idea at this point what’s being done incorrectly. I don’t even have any antivirus or firewall to get in the way either. Something’s just not adding up, and I don’t have the technical expertise to figure out what it is.

EDIT: Oh. I just remembered that my father set something up on our router to block malicious ads and scripts before they can even reach our devices. If that’s interfering, then there isn’t anything I can do about it.

I don’t have access to its controls. As for Beltz and Dreamz I’ve made progress, at least. The versions that biomediaproject host and have up for download are broken, so I hunted down the game on webarchive. I’m pretty sure that editing the “hosts” file was supposed to fix this very issue, so I’m not sure what to do at this point. I posted it in the right topic this time. It still suffers from the same issues as trying to download the game from archived versions of lego.

If there was some way to disable that “copy protection” perhaps through a hex editor? I could probably get this game to work at long last. How strange that the game pack version worked but not the one linked in your OP That version works for me, I wonder what’s different between the two. Anyway glad you can finally play it, it’s an awesome game! Awesome, but sadly short. Like a lot of LEGO’s retro web games, really. Lots of potential but not enough content. I tried to run Beltz, but I can’t get it running!

I’m on Windows 10, I downloaded my version of Beltz from Biomediaproject, I tried to use Internet Explorer to run it after getting Shockwave 8 and the Xtra installed, but it kept getting stuck. What plugin is it talking about exactly?

I figure that Mozilla Firebird is the best place for me to run these games, but without the plugin that it’s asking for or something else I can’t! What do I do? Someone please make it an app. If anyone’s interested in playing The Nightfall Incident, I’ve just released a remake at itch. It’s entirely written from scratch in Javascript, so it should be playable for the forseeable future. I don’t suppose LEGO will care but you’ve basically duplicated their game.

LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga – The Cutting Room Floor – LEGO Spybotics

You’re the newest agent at S. T, an organization dedicated to tracking down and preventing cybercrime across the net.

Just as you’re getting started, you discover that a mysterious hacker is trying to take down the entire web with something called Nightfall!

And before you know it, all other S. T agents have been disconnected, and it’s up to you to stop the hacker. Regain control of the web by fighting databattles against the corrupted security software the Nightfall hacker has installed in nodes around the web.

To fight a databattle, you’ll upload special programs to engage the node’s security programs in strategic turn-based combat. Beat the security in one node, and you’ll gain access to even more nodes it’s connected to. As you advance through the net, you’ll get access to faster and stronger programs with special abilities.

The Nightfall Incident is a remake of a shockwave game of a similar name. It is in no way affiliated with The Lego Group and is an unofficial fan product. You will get access to the following files:.

Log in with itch. I’ve just completed the full game, and I gotta say I remember the original: at the spot where it says ‘connection log’ in the remake during the databattle screen, in the original instead it displays the player’s chosen spybot.

Anyway, I do have a question and suggestion: In the original, I recall that I was able to replay cleared nodes to gather even more ‘credits’ to purchase databattle software, but in the remake each node’s credits can only be acquired once. I understand this is to give it some difficulty, but why not employ both methods and allow the players to choose between ‘original’ difficulty, which allows players to replay nodes to acquire more credits and software, and ‘Hard’ difficulty, which each node’s victory and item credits can only be acquired once only, which forces the player to choose wisely which software to purchase depending on their strategy.

Meanwhile, I also noticed some typos in the game’s character chat text. I think that needs some reviewing too. I would encourage the developer of this to add to the remake if you haven’t , so that it has more reason for people to support!

The browser version works perfectly on mobile, it would be really nice if the paid version was also available in browser. I think this process should work for most html games. Thank you so much for letting me enjoy this game again! I thought I would never be able to after SWF was discontinued. I am looking forward to the sequel.

While I also am enjoying the game quite a bit, sometimes when I complete a level it doesn’t unlock the neighboring levels which has softlocked two different save files on two different levels. Not being able to progress at all is super disappointing. Sorry for the late response. I’m a full-time student in a non-CS field, so staying on top of programming stuff is difficult.

I can’t say that I’ve encountered this bug myself in my two playthroughs. I have a couple of inklings about what might be happening behind the scenes, and I have a pretty good idea of what I can do to put in a fix sometime in the next couple of weeks once school is over for the year. Will comment again then, and thanks for your patience!

I’ve noticed similar errors. Right now, I’m unable to access level 2, even after completing the level for the access codes. It almost seems like some of the game elements aren’t loaded into the program. I downloaded everything and followed the instructions to access “index.

Not sure what the issue might be. Have you fully unzipped the folder or are you playing from within the zip? I’m on Mac. The download is automatically unzipped, and I’ve checked the other files to confirm there are no remaining compressed files. Is there a particular browser that works best? Which browser are you on? I’ve noticed some weird stuff going on in other sites with Big Sur Safari so Chrome might be a better bet for now. Second save file hasn’t had the same problem yet? Bought and am enjoying the game greatly, but there’s a bug: Bonus credits picked up during a level aren’t added to your balance afterwards.

Edit: Actually it’s pretty bad. I was kind of reliant on repeating levels to farm credits so I could try out all the programs and now I don’t know what to do with myself.

Yeah, I’m getting the same bug in with this, that’s got real potential to hamstring the player later on in the game. My recollection of the game was that picking up previously collected credits did not award you the credits again. That being said, I could very well be wrong, and regardless I do think it’s better from a design perspective to allow farming credits.

I should have some time in the next couple of weeks to remove the system I put in to disable farming. Will comment again then! Farming previous missions was definitely a feature in the original game, and without following a strategy guide it is completely necessary for experimenting. A couple notes since you said you are on mac: I’ve run this in firefox on both linux and windows with no functional issues other than the farming. Hi Patrick, really appreciate the reprogramming effort to bring this game back to life!

As others have noted, farming was present in the original, and basically becomes essential in mid-late game. Not to pester you but do you have any guesses as to when you might disable the system that prevents farming? Thanks again! I’m unfortunately not familiar with the Junkbot games, but hopefully this encourages someone to remake them! I downloaded the game without any issues, but I’m running into a problem that I’m not having in the demo, where I can’t target enemy programs with my attacks.

Does anyone know a way to fix this? Sorry to hear that. What OS and browser are you using? I’m running Windows 10, and I use google chrome but the game automatically opens in Microsoft Edge internet explorer. I’m going to try to see if I can get it to open in Chrome and see if that helps.

I don’t know why I didn’t try that in the first place. But thank you for the quick response! I’m glad it works! I occasionally dual boot Windows for gaming and definitely recall testing this on Edge at some point, but I might’ve broken something after that. I’ll give it another try soon, but good to know that Chrome works! On second thought, I just remembered that I tested on the new version of Edge that’s Chromium based, so the same internals as Chrome.

I’ll get to testing on the old Edge the next time I want to play some Halo This is awesome. I notice you changed something that I now recognize was probably a bug. In the original, one could grab a credit and then Undo the action, keeping the credits but not wasting the movement squares.

Here, the Undo also undoes the credit collection. Thanks for the kind words. It’s indeed a bug that you could Undo and keep the credits you collected, so this remake prevents that behavior. I also fixed a bug where you could use Bit-Man to “zero” your own programs, preventing them from being attacked. I was not aware of the bug to use Bit-Man to zero a program. Thanks again for this blast from the past.

In my files, I can find the index. I can still use the above “Run Game” button in the browser to access the demo, but would like to see something more for my purchase. I think we’ve been in touch via email, but it may be necessary to extract the. Let’s be in touch via email to figure this out!

Got it going on my Chromebook and it is great so far. Thank you for your help and for bringing this game back from the dead! Looking forward to your proposed sequel! You’ve taken a different approach from me.

While it’s good to reinvent things sometimes, I like that this version has the same music, UI and feel as the original game, and that I can play it on a modern browser. Out of interest, have you had, or do you expect, any legal trouble from Lego? The trademark for the original game was cancelled in and I make sure not to even mention it or Lego , and I’ve been in touch with the original developers of the game, so I don’t anticipate any legal troubles!

Best wishes with your version. The Nightfall Incident. Download Now. More information. Comments Log in with itch. Like Reply. KirkDixon 89 days ago.

So guys, Liked the spoiler for Treasury, but can anyone do it and still get the creds in each corner? There’s a challenge!! I beat the game a few weeks ago, and my technique was similar to Eric Finley’s. The two Gurus on the right work like a charm, and I also used the Fiddle to super-charge my programs. I don’t remember exactly what other programs I used, but I did use the Bitmans, and they worked fine for me. A few Laser Satellites were useful too.

Does anyone know any other games similar to this one? If so, please post the site! Mine was based on 4 clog 3. The idea was to paralyse the wave of slow-moving attackers using beefed-up clogs, and paralyse the boss, too, eliminate the sumos first by a catapult shot, then on the 2nd round, once they moved closer to the golems, by circling them and crashing them, then, once the immediate threat has been eliminated, snipe the radars with the catapult, create a bridge to the boss area and kill him with the golems.

Then, I found I could kill pretty much every thing from the top left corner of the boss area and my catapult. I definitely spent more than “a few hours” trying to beat it partly because it requires to move units one step at a time!! Levels felt like puzzles: they looked like there was one best solution, and reading you guys I realise there were plenty, all along. Just recently discovered this site. Excellent resource. This game was a lot of fun and an excellent amount of play, considering it was free.

Heck, better than some games I’ve spent money for. There was also a lot of replay possibilities, since each level could be solved in a variety of ways. Yet another method for completing the final level. The opportunity for a variety of game play is great. Two Clog3. Just need the clog function, since they start at 2. Two Bit-men on the top, flanked by catapults with a satellite behind. Catapults have better range. Clog the 2 sumos to the right and work your sumo up to sufficient length to take them out without getting too hammered by the defenses.

Use the two bitmen to stop the 3 wardens and one block to the left to slow the approaching others. Bring a clog up the right, watching for the safe locations, and stop the approaching enemies on the right. One you wipe out the first set of defenders, carefully use the catapults to wipe out the enemy towers.

In the end, I had a sumo that could move 10 and had a length around 20, plus I still had all of my ranged attacks, hyped up with turbo. Also still had a bitman that was now long enough to absorb damage from the boss and get away.

DONUT level. I’m stuck on the node that gives you the codes to level 5 security! Only 4 upload places, and 9 squares to work with! Doesn’t help that you need to have 1 bitman, too.

Any tips? Upload four bit-men to the squares in the corners, and two ballistas in the center squares. On the first two turns, use the bit-men to zero out the six squares surrounding your ballistas. Everything should go smoothly after that. The bit-men will become “acceptable losses,” while your artillery will vaporize everything from their unreachable position.

Aim for the watchmen whenever possible, as they are the only enemies that can stop you. The enemies can’t reach you without your help, so try spending the first several turns upgrading a golem, sumo, or satellite with turbo deluxe and wizard.

Bug x4 Hack x4 Bit-man x1 Clog 0. Please help! This may have been mentioned before, but since people are still asking about it. One of the most sure fire ways to beat many of the challenges:.

Put down range attack programs like catapults with a bitman or two nearby. Use the bitmen to zero the space under the range programs. This will make the range progam immune to ANY attack, so you can safely blast at the enemy. You can also use a bitman to make a “moat” of Zero spaces around itself, so that after your attack program has killed all the enemies, you can use your bitman to collect any files that you need. These are both slow and not good for grabbing cash, but once you get the hang of things, you’ll find other ways to exploit bitman’s power.

This may not work for all enemies, but most Start the battle 2. Click on an enemy the replacement 3. Click on their attack 4. Click on another enemy the replacer 5. Click back to the first enemy the replacement one 6. Click “Undo”. If all was done properly and the enemy combination works , the first enemy you clicked on will move from its original position to be on top the second enemy you clicked.

The second enemy’s picture will usually remain throughout the entire battle, but the second enemy itself won’t exist it’ll basically be a ghost. You can sometimes reduce entire battles into one enemy with this! I need help. I accidentally hacked my file to have the last levels set to WIN. If someone could point out which levels the last one and the one to get clearance to level 5 is, that’d be nice.

I’d also accept the dialogue from those parts in a spoiler tag. I Love this game i found it a couple of years ago and it is probably my favorite free web game to date. Problem is I want more. Anyone played any other games that are at all similar? A nice little involved turn bases strategy. Pleas help my day at work can be so boring. I had played this back when I used to play at lego. Now then, don’t get me wrong, but I reckon the core of this game has incredible potential.

Data spaces which can only support units above a certain size. Or units below a certain size. Artillery units which can fire at extremely long ranges, but they can’t hit anything at short to medium ranges. And of course, balanced buffing programs. And hours more worth of gameplay : With next-gen graphics. And a plot written by Terry Pratchett. Actually, forget the last paragraph. This game is awesome anyway. I was contemplating trying to translate the game mechanics into a simpler language, but I don’t like infringing on people’s ideas without asking them permission first.

I was, like, what, 5? Bug rules! Wow, interesting to read everyone’s final level strategies. I actually succeeded on my second try using a set that seems completely different from anything else I see here:. I can’t remember what the 10th bot was for some reason, but it was nothing special. Basically you use the Clogs to immobilize enemy units, while staying out of range of the enemy towers.

You’ll lose a couple units, but it’s possible to gain complete control of the situation by immobilizing or trapping all enemy units; then you just kill one, immobilize the next one as it comes out maintaining a safe distance , and repeat. Once you’ve got the mainland taken care of, you can use Fiddle to beef up your laser-sat or seeker to the point where it can take out the bots across the island.

The way I played through this game, the entire key on the majority of levels was using Clogs to shut down enemy movement. Most of the levels can be beaten with far less firepower than allowed use only 1 upload slot instead of 6?!

Here are a few insane stunts:. Defeat Dr. Donut Supply Management with a single Wolf Spider. Donut Franchise Office with a single Wolf Spider. Donut Recipe Database with a Bug and a Slingshot. Unfortunately, it looks as if Lego has taken down the game. Hopefully it will resurface again soon someday. I thought it was gone for good once lego decided to get rid of it off of their site. Thanks a lot Jay for getting this game back. Wait why is’nt up for play anymore? All my hopes, my dreams, my everything are poofed by this news!!!

But i’m searching it up in all search engines I can find. I think I might of just found it right now. I’ll post the link. Oh my gosh! Never mind what I said they had to get rid of the game for some reason so yeah it’s all happy and stuff. I used 5 bitmen to cut off every intruder and then used 2 catapaults, wizard and laser satellite to take out the ranged shots from the watchmen. I kept boosting up my catapaults as I carefully made my way towards the boss.

I maxed out on size 16 and move size 9 then just had a long long fight. I beat this game years ago as a kid. A lot of people have already asked this, but I’ve yet to see an answer and I’d really like one. Or any games equally as fun? If so, I’d love to see a link. But maybe there just isn’t a game that can come close to Spybot.

It’s definitely my favorite. Where is the save game file in Windows XP? I have beaten the game, but I want to hack for fun now I’ve found one or maybe several glitches. Somehow I have a Data Doctor Pro that got up to size I was using it to pump up two Golem.

At some point when I only had one golem and the doctor left, the golem got attacked and was broken into several pieces. I could use the doctor on any of the pieces and it would work. The golem was eventually pumped up to epic proportions legally, but the doctor exceeded its max size, which I didn’t alter in that level. I am having trouble with the game.

Every time I start it it just has adobe shockwave loading screen. Oh, man. Never before have I loved this site as much as I do now. Years ago I played this game, and then the next time I went to play it, the game was gone! What would we do without JayIsGames? Unfortunately, when I’ve tried to replay it now on a Mac, or, in fact any Shockwave game, it doesn’t work so well.

For example, when I try to go from the load game screen to the netmap, it changes very slowly with a few small squares in a diagonal pattern changing first, and everything else later. Most annoying. Similarly, the window occasionally just goes black except for the head of one program. It restores quickly, but the prevalence of this sort of thing makes it unplayable. There’s something similar with other shockwave games I play. Used Tarantula to paralyze and whittle away at the bottom Sumo, used a Guru to ice the top Sumo before moving to the “front”.

Froze the Wardens when they were in range, began work on the Watchers and Attack dogs, using Focus fire on the dogs. Ice wardens when the opportunity arises, and wipe out the rank and file programs.

Spent a couple turns massing up size on the Laser sat and remaining gurus, and from there it’s a mere battle of attrition. Gurus didn’t get off as many shots due to their range, but still got the Sensor towers and served as alternate targets that my DDP’s kept healing up. Boss decided the size Guru was more dangerous than my size Kill Sat, hehe. Iced the front 3 Wardens, and took out one of the watchers while my Sumo-neutralizing squad got back to the “Front”. Tarantula made a Suicide run agains one of the Dogs to substitute for an Ice while I took out a Warden.

The attack dogs took some Focus-Fire, 2 ice from my Gurus or 1 fire and one Satellite shot, Iced Wardens were basically free-shots. Lost a Fiddle to a Tweak at size 1. Webpage error details Message: Object doesn’t support this property or method [snip] the errors?

I remember this game having an extra background music for data battles. It had something like record scratching and a nice beat. If anyone remembers it, does anyone know what it is called? I had nearly beaten it had access to the last level!

Making a remake of this game, also including PvP. Loved this game a few years ago, but than Lego dropped it :. It’ll give you a few enemy programs I didn’t add them all.. Best pals. Use the data doctor to shield the bug for several rounds as you build up its maximum size with surgery.

Then, unleash the fury. Awesome game! Unfortunately, there are some MAJOR flaws in it, unnecessary and fixable flaws, so please do some bugficing there! The whole users interface is quirky if not downright annoying at sometimes. Navigating the main map is a pain in the donkey, and during the combats you so often forfeit turns by misclicking which is very easy. Sometimes moves by the enemy are not shown anymore, which makes it even worse.

I guess it’s good then that the AI in combats ist mostly pathetic, making up for the glitches destroying your strategy. A game that strategic should really not suffer from such kind of glitches, making all your carefully planned moves useless because you clicked one time to often or the wrong pixel. Unfortunately, the company that made the game is now gone, so there won’t be any updating of the game. I suggest using the Windows Shockwave player to play the game as the Mac version of Shockwave sucks in its current version.

I set up initially with the four slots on the left filled with 2 Golem. I don’t remember the exact orientation, but it turned out to be fairly irrelevant. I used Data Doctor Pro to perform surgery on Bit-Man to help him survive the boss, then had him construct a path along the bottom of the screen to sneak along.

I used the Clogs to freeze the Sumos, dogs, Wardens, and watchers, then cleared out the former with the Catapults and did the rest using the Golems who also benefited from a bit of Data Doctor Pro’s stretching.

I had planned to clog the boss to prevent him from moving, but he wiped out my 3 clogs before I could do it properly. Fortunately, the AI is rather stupid. I used Bit-Man to build a path into the Boss’s island after sniping two of his Sonars with catapults, then used him to stall while I bombarded the boss with the Catapults.

After Bit-man and the Catapults which would incidentally be a good name for a band died, I brought in the remaining Golem and swept through the boss and the other two Sonars. Of course the great thing about this game is that that’s by no means the only way to do it. Spybot is a brilliant, brain-stretching game of strategy and tactics; I was depressed when Lego took it off their website and elated when I found it here.

Incidentally, my first attempts on almost all of the later levels involved spamming Mandelbugs. They are awesome, despite the fact that those strategies never worked. Wow, this is neat, I had no idea this game was still around. I too played it around age and loved it. It’s also interesting to me the number of different ways to beat the last node. I think I used LogicBombs to take out the sumos in the first round as apposed to freezing them.

I think I used wizard and a DrPro, maybe a turbo as well. Pretty sure I used a bitman too. I’ll have to play again and try something new now. Awesome game, haven’t finished it quite yet but I’m definitely planning on it. Sometimes, you can still see the enemy but he can’t be selected, other times he just vanishes.

Makes some levels a lot easier, let me tell ya Is there any way to play with today’s Shockwave flash problems? It looks like SF is not able to start Spybot, even if you try it to run via veb archive.
